Dear Colleagues and Friends,

we are pleased to invite you to the first joint CE- and FFE-Forum, taking place at the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology ICT in Pfinztal (near Karlsruhe) October 5 and 6, 2017. An intensive meeting is intended to attract scientists, users and equipment manufacturers on the two electrophoretic separation techniques. A deep exchange of theoretical work, practical results, and news for your progress in your research and your daily lab work are key aspects of the Forum.

The organizers are aiming to combine the tradition of the CE-Forum as a platform especially dedicated to young scientists with the emphasis in the FFE-Forum for broad open discussion between experts and peers about the technique.

It is expected that all participants will present their work in a form of an oral contribution or a poster presentation. Focus will be given to discussions between the participants instead of pure lectures only. Participants are encouraged to present also negative results or dead-ends of their research efforts to maximize the learning effect for the audience! And why not address unresolved questions with the audience?

10 minutes time for discussion will be scheduled in each slot for oral presentation. Poster presenters will be offered a short (3 min) oral presentation of their topic in a special session. During the get-together evening event all participants will have enough time for personal exchange and networking. You may find appropriate partners for cooperation and in future projects. Additionally, a panel discussion to promote the intensive exchange is planned.

We are convinced that there is great value for the CE- and FFE-community by bringing the two techniques together in one forum. We hope that the presentations of both techniques will spark news and insights. What are the similarities? What are the differences? What are the limitations or benefits of each setup?

Looking forward to meeting you at the 2017 issue of the CE- and FFE-Forum in Berghausen (Karlsruhe)
